On the quest for a new Camera

Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSI (EOS-450D).
Sound good?
Anything better around the same price range that you'd recommend?
I'm working my butt off for this. AKA: Selling my guitars, and anything else I can find. lol.
I want my senior pictures to be nothing short of amazing, and I feel I'll really be able to do better ones with a better camera.
Also, I'm doing my two best friends' portraits, so I want theirs to be special as well.
So far I have roughly 400 dollars.

Anyway, 9 more days of school, two of which are 1/2 days, I'm so excited for summer!

I have an acoustic Estebon Burswood and an Fender Squire Bullet, I don't even think its full size.

But as far as your senior pictures go, its the photographer, not the camera. I'm sure they will be beautiful no matter what camera you are using.}

Yeah =] Well I'm doing my own.. lol, so I'm pretty sure I trust myself.

My camera that I have now though has a really hard time focusing specifically on eyes, and I want the eyes to really pop in these portraits. Maybe I'm just doing something wrong, but its just a compact camera... so who knows.

And thank you =] Yeah, Canon is good. I personally think there are better names, but they're more expensive.
